What Jami-Lee Ross stands for:
ü
Ensuring
Howick has strong representation on Council
- Howick is a unique community that needs
councillors willing to work together and with other Manukau City Councillors
to achieve progress for Howick.
ü
Fixing
the unfair Manukau Water wastewater charges
- Fixed wastewater charges have cause a
lot of concern in the community since being introduced last year. Jami-Lee
Ross strongly believes in changing wastewater charges so that they would be
based on actual water usage.
ü
Maintaining
public ownership of our airport shareholding
- Manukau City Council's airport
shareholding is an extremely good investment for current ratepayers and
future generations. Selling these shares to an overseas company would be a
very bad move for Manukau City
ü
Spending ratepayers money conservatively
- The culture of wasteful spending in
Council needs to end.
Grandiose schemes, wasteful spending and bad
decisions all add up to a poor performing Council.
ü
Working to
provide Howick with quality community facilities
-
Quality recreation centres, plenty of green space and clean beaches are high
on his priority list to keep Howick a family friendly community.
ü
Introducing
Citizens Referenda for making major city decisions
-
Traditional methods of public consultation usually result in a few hundred
submitters. The holding of referendums on key issues on an annual basis
would give all ratepayers a voice in local decision making.
ü
Helping to
build a clean, safe and secure environment
-
One of
Jami-Lee's top priorities as the Howick Councillor has been to ensure Howick
remains as a family friendly community. It is essential for Council to
provide plenty of open green space, maintain clean beaches, and promote a
safe and secure environment
